2019 United Way Day of Caring

Event Details

On Thursday, September 5th an eager sea of 1,216 volunteers filled the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center hall for the annual United Way Day of Caring luncheon. Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the United Way of the Black Hills we enjoyed a great lunch and presentation, as well as a memorable video reflecting on years past and the history of the United Way of the Black Hills. It is amazing to see how far we have come over the years!

Everyone in attendance was enthusiastic to get going on their project for the day. Our crew consisted of Jim Sachs, Mike Deal, Darcy Paluch, Dereck Budahl, Kelli Noland, Corey Paluch, Bobbie Nelson and Julie Bennett. We had the opportunity to work alongside multiple groups of volunteers from around our community. There were approximately 60 volunteers all there to tackle the landscape at the Journey Museum. With the sun blazing high in the afternoon sky we worked diligently on our project transplanting Black-eyed Susan from the walkway to the front and side of the building.

We finished out the day receiving countless “thank you’s” and sincere appreciation from the employees at the Journey. We would like to extend the abundance of gratitude to Gil and Clark for allowing us to take time from work to get our hands dirty and help out. We are extremely fortunate to work for a family that recognizes the importance of community involvement. Thank you to everyone that is able to contribute to the United Way. Whether it be donating your hard-earned money, or your valuable time, it is priceless to those that receive the services of the agencies the United Way supports.
