Your local Common Cents Stores are at it again; collecting pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters to benefit the transportation fund for our local Shriner's!
Donate your loose change through the month of August at any Common Cents store during the 24th annual campaign and know that your contribution is making a difference. The funds go towards the local Shriner's Patient Transportation Fund, providing vital transportation to and from a Shriner's Hospital for Children who need specialized treatment.
We even get our vendors involved with a charitable golf tournament. 144 golfers from all over the United States come together at the end of August to have a day of fun and raise money, all the while knowing their contribution stays right here in our community.
“Sure, the golf tournament is fun,” said Steve Hendrickson, Merchandising Manager for Common Cents, “but what I really get excited about is how much of the funds come in through the donation buckets in our stores. It’s amazing how much is generated just by the simple act of tossing your loose change in a bucket before leaving the store.” Hendrickson went on to say, “the awareness that we are bringing to such a great cause and good that we as a community are doing for children warms my heart; each and every year.”
This campaign started small, only raising $12,000 in its first year and growing to over $100,000 today! Nearly half of that is raised by you; every time you visited your favorite Common Cents Store and dropped a penny in the donation jar! Our goal this year is to raise even more with your help. Please stop in through the month of August to any Common Cents location and give your change for a worthy cause. After all, that penny will be helping a local child overcome the transportation barrier and receive the medical care they need.
